Welcome to the school and welcome to the local area! We hope you have a wonderful time while you are staying with us. We will do everything we can to make your time here a happy adventure in your life and the whole team at the school is here to make sure you enjoy yourself and stay safe.
This might be the first time you have been away from home and the first time you have travelled with friends. Things will be different to how they are at home, people live differently and sometimes follow different rules to those you are used to. But don't worry, after a few days here, you will feel like this is a second home.
Feeling worried or homesick is not unusual; it is possible that some of your friends feel the same but don't say. BUT there is always someone to share your experiences with, whether a friend, your homestay host, a member of our team or your group leader.
Firrst, talk to your group leader.
You can also talk to our CES team directly.
Who to talk to:
Questions about classes? → Your teacher or the Director of Studies
Questions about activities or trips? → The Social Coordinator
Questions about your host family? → The Accommodation Officer
Personal problems or if you feel unhappy? → The Welfare Officer
Questions about your safety? → Our Safeguarding Officer, Nila Patel
Please check your timetable here so that you know what time your lessons begin and what social actvities you will be doing..

You trips and activities will be on your programme. It is important to be on time, follow instructions and safety information. Please follow instructions from our activities team (the “Yellow Shirts”) and your teachers.
There is lots of information about you lessons on our lessons page. Read through and make sure you understand this.
Please speak English all the time! We want you to be able to talk about yourself and to learn about your classmates, so make sure you do lots of speaking and have fun!
If you feel your class is too difficult or too easy, first speak to your teacher. On the first morning of classes your teacher will be checking your level and abilities. You can also speak directly to your Group Leader about changing your class. Sometimes it is not possible to change classes, because classes are full, and sometimes our teachers’ professional opinion about your level of English will be different from yours!
At the end of your stay at CES you will get a certificate and a short academic report.
